Jerry and his wife, the former Great job Another hot, but successful Old Settlers' Reunion has come and gone. Hats off to Matt Miller who stepped up to do the master of ceremonies duties in Cathy Dailey's absence. It is so nice to see younger people taking leadership roles in this event. Gus Barnett and Debbie Hunt also assumed the reins of leadership in Cathfs absence. There were many oth- ers who volunteered their time during the festival. The Old Settlers' Commit- tee (headed by Cathy) spent much time planning and coordinating the events. We sometimes assume Old Settlers' will just be there for us, but it wotildn't be possible without the hard work of a very few people dedicated to seeing the event continue. We should all remember to offer our assistance this committee when a call for help goes out. We also wanted to say 'Thanks" to the cit, county,, and fire districts for pro- viding the security and first responders during the festival. While tearing down The Center Place's booth on Saturday evening, we had an accident occur and the first responders were immediately on the scene as well as an RN who was in the crowd. We appreciate their caring and quick actions. . Jefferson County is a great place to call home, and can be even better with the commitment and involvement of our citizens.
